On an Island is the third solo album by David Gilmour, released in 2006. The album features contributions from various musicians, including Guy Pratt, Graham Nash, Bob Klose, Dick Parry, and Richard Wright. The orchestral arrangements were made by Polish film composer Zbigniew Preisner and performed by an orchestra conducted by Robert Ziegler. The album was mostly recorded in Gilmour's home studio on board his houseboat, Astoria. The first track, Castellorizon, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental. Gilmour is a British composer, guitarist, vocalist, and one of the leaders of the band Pink Floyd. He has also made a successful solo career and actively participates in the activities of many charitable organizations.
